My Sergio Hudson x Target Wishlist

The fashions are coming! The fall designer collection form Target is coming soon! Sergio Hudson announced his upcoming collection with the big box retailer and I have my wish list ready! Check out the collection video and which pieces I have my eyes on.

Dresses with Endless Possibilities

I love a great dress! I’m a dress girl more than anything, as I feel most comfortable in them. I enjoy statement dresses in solid colors or neutral patterns because it allows me to mix and match with other colors and patterns. These by Sergio Hudson serve as the perfect foundation for statement jewelry, bold accent colors, and patterns.

Versatile Basics

I love a colorful basic piece like this turquoise turtleneck. It can be worn casually or dressed up.

I’m a sucker for an animal print and this zebra print blouse is a satin like fabric is right up my alley. I wear blouses like this with skinny jeans and stilettos or with a pencil skirt or slacks.

Statement Coats

The coats in this collection are divine! Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean you have to stick to neutral outerwear. Jewel tons are surprisingly versatile and often go with most if not all other jewel tones. The deep rich purple pea coat can get more wear than you think and I can plans for it already.

The large houndstooth printed coat is perfect as a statement in its in or to compliment a pop of color underneath.

Entertainment News: Halle Bailey Releases Teaser Tailer for Disney’s Live Action Little Mermaid

When it was announced that songstress Halley Bailey, one half of dynamic singing sister duo Chloe and Halle, would star as Ariel in Disney’s live action The Little Mermaid, it came with mixed reviews. The decision was praised from those who longed for more diversity in Disney movies and Disney purists thought it just didn’t make sense. I, for one, was elated at the news. I will definitely head to the movies to see it, hopefully with my nieces.

The teaser trailer released just last evening is everything I knew this movie would be. Halle’s voice is a perfect match for Ariel. I’m also glad that the production team kept her hair similar to her natural style of locs which can she seen still even with the red hair. Representation matters. Check out the teaser trailer below.

The film is slated to be released May 26, 2023.

Black Designers You Should Know: Nathaniel Noir

Nathaniel Noir, a Black luxury goods designer behind the brand Noir-X Apparel based in Canada, is a designer you need in your radar. He designs structured handbags of varying sizes and textures such as crocodile, python, ostrich, iridescent color ways, and vegan leather. He offers sophisticated pieces that can definitely become staples in anyone’s collection while also offering fun handbags in various patterns.

I cannot tell you how I initially came across his account, but when I saw the Python Blue Chrome bag in the medium, I was hoooked! The bag was both metallic and iridescent with blue and green colors so when it hit the light, it shined, okay?! I had to have it! Well so did everyone else because this was last spring and it quickly sold out! I thought I lost out on the bag, but then this summer, it was re-released and I snatched it up quickly! Check out my unboxing and initial reaction below .

Since acquiring the Python Blue Chrome handbag, I snagged another coveted beauty, the Python Liquid Gold also in the medium size. Isn’t she a beauty? The orange and gold tones are a perfect pop to any ensemble for the upcoming fall season. This bag with brown or emerald green?! I can’t wait!

I currently have my eye out for the re-release of the Vitro Chrome in medium. Check her out below. Isn’t she gorgeous?

I have found my sweet spot in styles of handbags that work for me and they are structured , medium sized, with top handles and feet. The ones I received from Noir-X check all of those boxes. However , if the medium is too large for you or not large enough, many of the offerings come in mini and jumbo sizes as well.

The price range is what I would consider mid-tier accessible ranging from $270-$660. However, many of the styles are often and currently steeply discounted. The bags shown above retailed for $480 but are discounted to $150.

I’m not done with Mr. Nathaniel Noir yet, my wishlist includes:

1. Purple Jumbo Python

2. Jewel Green Jumbo Python

3. Monaco Red Jumbo Python

Health and Wellness: Scotland Announces Ruling that Menstrual Products Are Free in Public Spaces

While women’s bodies have been heavily policed via legislation as of late in the States, across the Atlantic, Scotland is passing laws that make more sense. Women now have the legal right to free menstrual products in public spaces including schools and universities. This is all due to the Period Products bill passed by a unanimous vote back in November 2020. However local authorities and education providers will be responsible for ensuring the products availability. Big shout out to Monica Lennon who proposed the bill in April 2019 (CNN).

Having worked a stint in community outreach in a local education system, period poverty is absolutely real and I, along with a few teachers, held discreet fundraisers to keep our storage stocked.

Also, word to handbag designer and stylist, Sonique of Saturday House, for raising period awareness through her designs for years now. Hopefully, one day the U.S. will catch up with the rest of the world.

Until then…
