Luvvie Ajayi, Bozoma Saint John, Jones and Glennon Doyle Create #ShareTheMicNow Campaign to Amplify Voices of Black Women

It is a campaign unlike any other. The Share Mic Now initiate aims to amplify the voices of black women across various industries and their stories by having them take over the accounts of notable white women. Because as the creators stated, “When the world listens to women, it listens to white women.” When women like Hilary Clinton, Katie Couric, and Julia Roberts create the space among their audience, it allows more people to see and hear black women talk about their stories. This is especially impactful during the current climate with so many non-black people asking what they can do. Something like #ShareTheMicNow is the answer.

Take this idea back your workplaces, schools, and communities. Help facilitate safe spaces for dialogue that would lead to change. Lives are literally depending on this type of action.

Takeovers begin today, June 10, 2020.
