Once a beauty industry cult favorite when it hit the scene about ten years ago, Clarisonic, announced it will be closing down operations for good on September 30, 2020. Here is the statement released on the brand’s website:
“We want to thank all of our loyal customers, dermatologists and partners who have helped put this brand on the map. It has been our absolute pleasure to serve you all of these years.”
L’Oréal USA acquired Clarisonic’s maker, Pacific Bioscience Laboratories, in 2011, lured by the device’s leading spot in the marketplace $1 billion US at-home skin care devices marketplace. The company was founded in 2001 and launched Clarisonic in 2004. At the time of the deal with L’Oréal, PBL had 300 employees and operated corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility in Redmond, WA. (HAPPI)
Clarisonic has sold several versions of its brush including Clarisonic Mia, Clarisonic Plus and Pro, and the Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System to men’s and newer versions for anti-aging. ((HAPPI)
