Entertainment News: Halle Bailey Releases Teaser Tailer for Disney’s Live Action Little Mermaid

When it was announced that songstress Halley Bailey, one half of dynamic singing sister duo Chloe and Halle, would star as Ariel in Disney’s live action The Little Mermaid, it came with mixed reviews. The decision was praised from those who longed for more diversity in Disney movies and Disney purists thought it just didn’t make sense. I, for one, was elated at the news. I will definitely head to the movies to see it, hopefully with my nieces.

The teaser trailer released just last evening is everything I knew this movie would be. Halle’s voice is a perfect match for Ariel. I’m also glad that the production team kept her hair similar to her natural style of locs which can she seen still even with the red hair. Representation matters. Check out the teaser trailer below.

The film is slated to be released May 26, 2023.

3 Ways to Enjoy Valentine’s Day if You’re Single

Valentine’s Day is marketed as a couples holiday, but that doesn’t mean you can’t show yourself love if you’re single. As the artist Teyonna Taylor said, “Self love is the best love.” Don’t be down, use the day to indulge in a little self-care, especially since Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday this year. Have a relaxing evening to kick start your work week.

  1. Make a Nice Dinner

If you like to cook (or have been meaning to get better at cooking), now is the time to try that delicious looking recipe you have pinned for forever. Don’t stop there, add dessert into the mix. Go all out too. Pull out the real plates and cutlery as well as the wine glasses. Set the table and create an ambiance.

2. Take a Bath and Read a Book

Complete the evening with a nice warm and relaxing bubble bath. Turn on some soothing jams, light some candles and relax. Pull out those bath bombs and scrubs you got as Christmas gifts that you’ve been meaning to try.

3. Have a Solo Movie Night

Acquire your favorite movie snacks and your softest blanket and curl up and watch all movies or shows you’ve been meaning to binge but never got around to them.

Augusta, GA Could Be Home to National R&B Hall of Fame Museum

The Garden City most famously know for the Masters Golf Tournament could also be home to the National R&B Hall of Fame!

Here is what the R&B Hall of Fame founder and CEO, LaMont Robinson said he feels Augusta is the prime destination for the new museum. Here is what he had to say about the new location he was scouting:

“Our goal now, is to have a face-to-face meeting with the mayor of Augusta and its city officials to get their support for this project, that will bring over 500,000 visitors to Augusta, as well as providing over 250 local jobs.”

Along with the possibility of the annual induction ceremony weekend moving to Augusta in the summer of 2021, the ultimate goal is to build a 30,000- to 50,000-square-foot state-of-the art interactive museum featuring 3-D virtual reality exhibits and housing memorabilia of past inductees such as Michael Jackson, James Brown, B.B. King, Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley and Whitney Houston.(

The museum would take visitors on a journey of the history of R&B while also highlighting radio personalities and unsung heroes, according to a news release from the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Foundation. The project would have a Walk of Fame with statues lining the front of the museum, a music-themed restaurant, a gift shop, and wings highlighting the R&B greats of Georgia including Augusta’s own James Brown as well as Ray Charles, Otis Redding, and Little Richard. Other wings could highlight hip-hop and R&B offshoots such as jazz, rock, and funk. (

Start Your Day with Will Smith’s “Chill Beats” Playlist

Happy Monday Divas and Gents.

If you’re still working from home, you’re probably like me and trying to do whatever you can to stay productive with all that is going on. One of the things  I have to have to work is music. I cannot work in silence. I prefer “vibey” music to work to. These are tunes that are mellow and not too hard on the ear so it is easy to tune them out when I need to concentrate. Because of this, I actually “hear” the music off and on as I’m working. With that being said, many artists are sharing their talents as a way to get us through our quarantine lockdowns. Will Smith just published his “Chill Beats to Quarantine To” playlist and I’m already a fan. In fact, it is playing right now. If you want some new vibey tunes to work to, check it out below.
