Jackie Aina Launches Lifestyle Brand, FORVR Mood, for the “Regular-Degular Girl”

“Boujie, but make it approachable” –FORVR Mood

Beauty influencer and social justice advocate, Jackie Aina, launched her own lifestyle brand, FORVR Mood. She teased her followers with only a name and not giving any hints as to what she was about to release other than it was not beauty related. The initial drop turned out to be four candles with names of cultural colloquialisms often used in the Black, LGBTQ+, and beauty communities. Jackie spoke of her love for greats scents and how she always had candles burning in her home and that it was only right to launch candles.

The marketing videos on the brand’s Instagram page features all four candles being highlighted in an computer generated video of pastels and golds in different backdrops such as a luxurious bathroom and posh living room with a vibey Afro Beats tune playing in the background, an obvious nod to Jackie’s Nigerian roots.

Description:

“Think of FORVR Mood as a boujie-on-a-budget haven. Think: *lux, but make it accessible*. We’re boujie, but not b*tchy – we think everyone should have access to products that make them feel like THAT girl. The idea was to create a lifestyle brand that’s fun, light, and prioritizes feeling good. We’re not here to sell you a facade. Every product we create is something Jackie LOVES, actively uses, and makes her life easier. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re in it for the feeling. For the vibe. For the whole mood. AND WE’RE BLACK OWNED!” (FORVR Mood).

On why she started FORVR Mood:

“In today’s stay-low-and-grind climate, whatever happened to taking care of YOURSELF? That’s where we come in. We’re a brand that emphasizes putting yourself first. The grind gon’ always be there, but will your edges? Make sure YOU are good first, sis.” (FORVR Mood).

6 Women Who Chose Tiny Houses as Their Forever Homes

The tiny house nation has taken us by storm and I am completely on board. I’m actually entertaining the idea of getting a tiny house as my first permanent home. The word “tiny” is relative. I’ve seen floor plans range from 60 to 1000 square feet. Typically, anything under 1000 square feet is considered tiny as that was normally the minimum square footage for many housing codes. The ones on wheels, THOW (tiny house on wheels) are a few hundred square feet, with the 300 square foot range being on the large end.

The tiny house movement has largely been associated young white hipster millenial couples wanting a freer life or young guys wanting to live off the grid. More and more women are seen living in tiny THOW and they span age ranges and backgrounds. From the young woman who wanted to fo tiny but still have enough room to grade her school papers, the single mom who wanted a soace dor her and her daughter,to the middle age woman who wanted a forever home for when she was ready to retire. They have found ways to make going tiny work for them. Check them out below.

Diva’s Quick Tips: How to Incorporate Reusable Shopping Bags into Your Lifestyle

Ever thought about making the switch to reusable shopping bags, but don’t know where to start? Here are a few ways you can get started. Happy shopping!

vegetables-140917__340

1. Start with What You Have

Most of us have tote bags lying around from conferences we’ve been to or gifts with purchases. Start with those and see how the material and size works for you before buying new ones.

2. Tray Half and Half

The reusable bags at the cash wrap at the grocery store aren’t usually that great, but you can also start with those. Ask the cashier to replace one or two or half of your groceries with the reusable bags to get yourself started. Be careful, they usually have a small fee attached.

3. Keep them in Your Car

A common statement people make when going out shopping is they always forget to bring their totes with them. Keep them in your trunk of your car or by the door you use most often in your house so you can easily remember to grab it. Ladies, keep a small one rolled up in your purse or work bag and gents, you can keep one in your crossbody or briefcase.

How Block Scheduling Has Worked for Me

Like most of you, my days are packed! It is easy to get overwhelmed with all the items on our to-do list. I have been one to keep a loose schedule, but when I wrote everything down, I didn’t see how I could do it all until I tried block scheduling. My best friends suggested it to me and raved about how great it was working for her. I knew first hand how full her plate was, and if she liked it, I had to try it.

5:30am-7:00am 8:00am-11:00am 11:00am-2:00pm 2:00pm-3:00pm 3:00pm-5:00pm 5:00pm- 8:00pm 8:00pm-10:30pm

10:30pm- 5:45 am

Block scheduling forced me to be more cognizant on how I spent my time. It also released me from my overwhelming need to finish everything in one sitting. Instead, I will allow myself to get to a certain point, then I will move on to something else. With me being in graduate school, working full time, running an online shop, writing, and my personal life, this has helped tremendously. I even reignited my love for reading because I carve out an hour block during the week to read, either right after work as a way to unwind or before bed. I always said I never had time to read because I was so busy, but I never made time to read. I’ve read three books consistently and consecutively since December and am finishing up the third. I even schedule my bedtime. Sleep and rejuvenation are important and when I’m tired and foggy, I am not productive and end up just wasting time.

I will continue to use block scheduling to get the most out of my day.

Have you tried this method of time management? What other tactics do you find useful?

These Tiny Houses Will Make You Rethink That Mansion of Your Dreams!

Despite many predictions, the tiny house movement isn’t going anywhere. Over the past decade, they have evolved with the emergence of tiny house builders and an increase in popularity thanks to our friend the internet. Some cities and non-profits have even adopted tiny houses as an affordable housing alternative and as a way to combat homelessness. TheDiva Chronicles community is totally #teamtinyhouse and wanted to share some chic tiny houses for inspirations just in case you were on the fence about going tiny.
