When it was announced that songstress Halley Bailey, one half of dynamic singing sister duo Chloe and Halle, would star as Ariel in Disney’s live action The Little Mermaid, it came with mixed reviews. The decision was praised from those who longed for more diversity in Disney movies and Disney purists thought it just didn’t make sense. I, for one, was elated at the news. I will definitely head to the movies to see it, hopefully with my nieces.
The teaser trailer released just last evening is everything I knew this movie would be. Halle’s voice is a perfect match for Ariel. I’m also glad that the production team kept her hair similar to her natural style of locs which can she seen still even with the red hair. Representation matters. Check out the teaser trailer below.
Tabitha Brown, affectionately nicknamed “America’s Mom”, as she is known for her infectious positivity, and warm, southern spirit has taken her energy to television…again. This role is far from her guest role in the hit drama The Chi, but a children’s show aptly called “Tab Time.” Check out the trailer below.
TAB TIME is a series for all kids – but geared towards preschoolers ages 3 to 5 and their parents – and it stars Tabitha Brown, an actress, vegan foodie, and mother who has become one of the most visible social media personalities today. Tabitha or “Ms. Tab” as the kids call her, taps into her natural capabilities as a cook, storyteller, mom, and motivational leader, to teach children how to live their best life. Through the lenses of kindness and confidence, TAB TIME will explore themes such as family, helping others, music, how things grow, and mistakes. Ms. Tab won’t shy away from the tough stuff while always keeping topics dynamic and fun!
On each episode of TAB TIME, Ms. Tab brings the kids along her journey to learn more about that episode’s truth, or theme. With an amazing medley of friends that include everyone from Lenny the Lightning Bug to her kitchen helpers Starla the Spatula and Burnie the Oven Mitt, Ms. Tab explores the theme and learns alongside the viewers. Each episode also promises a celebrity guest as a Super Cool Expert in Tab’s Lab and two children who join Ms. Tab and DJ Khrafty for craft time.
TAB TIME fosters a fun and inviting environment where kids are respected and encouraged to realize their own abilities and potential. The series is produced by Kids at Play, Scale Productions and Tabitha Brown.

The Garden City most famously know for the Masters Golf Tournament could also be home to the National R&B Hall of Fame!
Here is what the R&B Hall of Fame founder and CEO, LaMont Robinson said he feels Augusta is the prime destination for the new museum. Here is what he had to say about the new location he was scouting:
“Our goal now, is to have a face-to-face meeting with the mayor of Augusta and its city officials to get their support for this project, that will bring over 500,000 visitors to Augusta, as well as providing over 250 local jobs.”
Along with the possibility of the annual induction ceremony weekend moving to Augusta in the summer of 2021, the ultimate goal is to build a 30,000- to 50,000-square-foot state-of-the art interactive museum featuring 3-D virtual reality exhibits and housing memorabilia of past inductees such as Michael Jackson, James Brown, B.B. King, Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley and Whitney Houston.(WRDW.com)
The museum would take visitors on a journey of the history of R&B while also highlighting radio personalities and unsung heroes, according to a news release from the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Foundation. The project would have a Walk of Fame with statues lining the front of the museum, a music-themed restaurant, a gift shop, and wings highlighting the R&B greats of Georgia including Augusta’s own James Brown as well as Ray Charles, Otis Redding, and Little Richard. Other wings could highlight hip-hop and R&B offshoots such as jazz, rock, and funk. (WRDW.com)
I have been getting my money’s worth from all of my streaming services as of late. I have been watching a couple of new shows and took a trip down memory lane for the rest.
1. Little Fires Everywhere
I finished the series and whew! This was a good one. Both leading ladies did wellm but Reese took me there towards the end. Little Fires features drama and secrets and how it all blows up when two wordls collide.
2. Cooked with Canabis
Marijuana has been a hot topic in the past few years with a few states legalizing it all together. The show is like top chefs with a special ingredient added. To see what chefs come up with and displaying while showing off their cultural and scientific knowledge of cannabis has been interesting to watch.
I tune in every Sunday to watch Issa and Molly dance around their friendship issues, Kelli’s humor, and to see if the block party will ever happen.
4. The Golden Girls
This is an oldie but a goodie. It is just feel good humor and snarky quips. I have been getting my fill on Hulu and have been laughing ever since.
I have also been told to watch Ozark, Big Little Lies, and few documentaries. What are you streaming?
The label on a wine bottle tells you everything about the wine inside. It is divided into five parts. The producer’s name, the region it is from, the varietal, the vintage (year grapes were pulled), and the alcohol level.
2. The Meaning of “Grand Cru”
Wines designated as Grand Cru means they are the most superior grade of wine.
3. There’s Old World and New World Wines? Who Knew? Not Me.
Apparently, most wines fall into these two categories. The movie didn’t dive deep into which qualified a wine to be designated old or new world, but a quick Google search explained that “Old World” wines refer to those from the traditional wine growing regions of Europe, while “New World” refer to everywhere else.
“These distinctions can also refer to differences in style. The climates of New World wine regions are often warmer, which tends to result in riper, more alcoholic, full-bodied and fruit-centered wines. These wines are often made in a more highly extracted and oak-influenced style. Old World wines tend to be lighter-bodied, exhibiting more herb, earth, mineral and floral components. While these are gross generalizations, that’s how these terms are commonly used.
These days, the terms “Old World” and “New World” can take on even broader connotations and spark debates among wine lovers, usually about tradition vs. modernization. “Old World” implies tradition, history, and an “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” mentality, while the term “New World” invokes technology, science, corporations and marketing.” (Wine Spectator)
4. Sommelier School is Hard AF!
The movie made it clear that the Master Sommelier exam is hard. Those who have passed have had to take the test more than once. Elijah’s mentor and boss at the local spirits store, Raymond, stated he took the test three times. This article tells of personal accounts on just how tough it really is. Whew!
If you’re still working from home, you’re probably like me and trying to do whatever you can to stay productive with all that is going on. One of the things I have to have to work is music. I cannot work in silence. I prefer “vibey” music to work to. These are tunes that are mellow and not too hard on the ear so it is easy to tune them out when I need to concentrate. Because of this, I actually “hear” the music off and on as I’m working. With that being said, many artists are sharing their talents as a way to get us through our quarantine lockdowns. Will Smith just published his “Chill Beats to Quarantine To” playlist and I’m already a fan. In fact, it is playing right now. If you want some new vibey tunes to work to, check it out below.
Media Mogul, Tyler Perry, had the internet buzzing when it was announced he not only built his own studio compound, but he made history being the first black man to ever do so. Tyler Perry Studios is the largest of any major studio set and sits on the land of Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Ga., which is an old confederate army base. Architectural Digest documented their tour with Mr. Perry. Check it out below.
